Mission	:	Om 20.26 uur steeg Vickers Wellington W5371 "PH-X" van 12 Squadron op van Binbrook in graafschap Lincolnshire om deel te nemen aan een aanval op Essen. Om 22.55 uur werd de Wellington neergeschoten door een Duitse nachtjager en crashte aan de Monnickendijk bij Monnickendam. De gehele bemanning kwam om het leven. Piloot F.J. Lowe, tweede piloot T.E. Parsons, neuskoepelschutter W.R. Lea en staartkoepelschutter L.C. Stanley werden in Bergen begraven. Waarnemer/bommenrichter Sgt C.W.L. Pooley werd op 23 april 1942 en radiotelegrafist Sgt B.J. Dove werd op 29 april 1942 in het IJsselmeer bij Monnickendam aangetroffen. Beiden werden in Amsterdam begraven. [Zie ook record 54953 en 00060 van onze foto bibliotheek] Terug
